Edwin Cortes, of Allentown, died of blunt force injuries to the torso due to a motor vehicle collision, said the Lehigh County Coroner's Office. His manner of death was ruled accidental.

Cortes was a back-seat passenger in a two-car crash near North Street and Cedar Crest Boulevard around 3 p.m., authorities said previously. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Emmaus police said Cortes was in a car with three current and former Emmaus High students, while the driver was the only person in the other car. "Several" were injured, they added.

Less than 24 hours after his death, community members raised over $23,000 to benefit Cortes' family on GoFundMe. Organizers say the money will help pay for the teen's funeral expenses and other memorial costs.
